1. First, communicate with our company's technical personnel to confirm the concentration of the quenching fluid.
2. Second, confirm the size of test workpiece. Generally, the weight ratio of the test workpiece to the working fluid shall not be less than 1:10; otherwise, it is likely to fail to achieve the required hardness.
*Taking a customer in Rizhao as an example, the test method of quenching liquid is explained.
Material: 45, 40Cr, 42CrMo material;
Suggested the concentration: about 8%;
Product process and tempering temperature: can be operated according to the original process, do not need to change;
Sample quantity: 5kg;
Quenching Tank: A barrel of approximately 50kg; workpiece weight is 5kg
3. Test Procedures
3.1 Preparation solution: take the quenching solution 4kg, add 46KG water, the concentration of 4 / (4+46) = 8% was obtained.
3.2 First take out 1KG do not need, save, in case of cracking can supplement the concentration. If the work is a small piece, please clamp it with a fixture and do not sink directly into the bottom of the bucket, swing back and forth during the test.
3.3 Ifin the concentration of 8%, it is not cracked or the hardness is not enough, 10kg of water can be added appropriately, the concentration of 4/(4+46+10)=6.67% was obtained. If cracking and deformation occur, take out the reserved 1KG of quenching fluid and add it to the barrel to increase the concentration.
4. Notes
Some users, such as production chains and so on, because the piece is small. In general, a small barrel is used as the quenching tank for liquid preparation. The heated workpiece is directly lost in the barrel, and the workpiece is quickly sunk to the bottom of the barrel, so that the time is short. In this case, it is often done that the hardness of the experiment is even lower than that of oil, and it does not meet the requirements. The reason is that the workpiece sinks to the bottom of the barrel in about three seconds after entering the quenchant, and the heat does not emit. the cooling speed slows down. Normally, it takes about 9 seconds to use the quenching solution from the furnace to below 200 degrees, but the free drop time of the workpiece is too fast.
So the solution to this situation is to choose a higher bucket (let it fall in the bucket longer) or hang it with an iron wire, and the problem will be solved.
Commissioning several more times, find the best use concentration, wish the test success.
